IHS Markit also expects global carbon fibre consumption to rise from more than 60, 000 metric tons (TMT) in 2015 to about 90TMT in 2020.
"The great progress of technology and processing greatly expand the demand for high performance carbon fiber," IHS Markit directors and called "manual" carbon fiber: chemical economics report, chief analyst Michael Malveda said, "the introduction of large volume and low cost of fiber, and productivity, reduce the manufacturing cost of carbon fibers. Cost is a major factor affecting demand, and costs are falling and demand is growing significantly.
"The need for carbon fiber is driven by the environmental and regulatory pressures to reduce weight, increase energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions," Malveda said. According to the research of the IHS Markit, the current demand for automotive and industrial areas of carbon fiber is more than 60% of the world, and the demand of the carbon fiber in the automotive industry average annual growth rate will reach almost 9% in 2015 to 2020. Between 2011 and 2012, global demand for aircraft and space has outpaced sporting goods/entertainment to become the second largest carbon fiber market.
